Booking Guidelines

Please read these rules before submitting a booking request.

I General Booking Guidelines

1. Advance Booking Requirements

Groups of 20 to 150 pax are required to make an advance booking through the official website of the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP), online booking form (Book A Tour tab).

If the Book A Tour tab is unavailable, you may send in your booking request via email to reservation@nationalmuseum.gov.ph at least three (3) working days prior to the preferred schedule.

Note: The Central Museum Visitor Operations Division (CMVOD) Booking Office is open from Monday to Friday (except holidays), from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm only.

2. Tour Schedule

Group tours may be scheduled from Tuesday to Saturday, while Sundays, Mondays, and holidays are exclusive for walk-in visitors.

3. Capacity Limitations

Admission to each museum is guided by building capacity and availability. To ensure the best experience for everyone and to facilitate accommodation of walk-in visitors, group reservations to the NMP Central Complex (National Museum of Fine Arts [NMFA], National Museum of Anthropology [NMA] and National Museum of Natural History [NMNH]) are limited to 150 visitors per slot only.

4. Arrival Requirements

Group tours will only be admitted on their scheduled time slots and are requested to arrive thirty (30) minutes ahead of schedule. Failure to arrive on schedule shall mean shorter tour time and/or forfeiture of slots.

5. Strict Policy

Strictly "NO BOOKING, NO ADMISSION POLICY" will be implemented. On the day changes will not be allowed nor be entertained. The NMP reserves the right to refuse entry to any visitor as it deems necessary.

II Museum Guiding Services

1. Comprehensive Tour

For a detailed insight into the museum exhibits and collections, a comprehensive tour is available. This is perfect for visitors who have more time and a strong interest in exploring the museum's collections from a deeper and more comprehensive perspective.

For comprehensive tour requests, please write a letter addressed to the Chief Administrative Officer of CMVOD, at least three (3) working days prior to the intended visit, and email it to reservation@nationalmuseum.gov.ph.

A maximum of 35 pax is allowed per group to ensure the effective conduct of the comprehensive tour.

2. Overview Talk

For a concise but informative introduction to the museum, an overview talk is available, perfect for those who prefer a quick orientation of the museum's highlights.

For overview talk requests, please write a letter addressed to the Chief Administrative Officer of CMVOD, at least three (3) working days prior to the intended visit, and email it to reservation@nationalmuseum.gov.ph.

To effectively facilitate engaging discussions and ensure a meaningful and enriching museum experience, each group is limited to a maximum of 150 participants per time slot, with up to four (4) time slots per group, allowing an aggregate total of 600 pax per single day transaction. Groups exceeding 150 pax per time slot are not permitted to swap between buildings.

For confirmed comprehensive tour and overview talk services, a printed booking confirmation receipt and list of visitors' names must be presented upon arrival. In case of cancellation, prior notice must be submitted at least two (2) working days before the arranged visit. Group tours may only be rescheduled up to two (2) times, subject to approval and slot availability. Any further changes will not be entertained.

*Non-NMP accredited tour operators are required to provide the following documents when booking for the first time, including those whose accreditation had already expired:

Company Profile
Accreditation from the Department of Tourism (current, not expired)
Name and Contact Information of the focal person

*Schools, organizations and other institutions without assistance from tour operators may send their booking request via email using their official company email address.

*As a valued partner in the Tour Operators Accreditation (TOA) Program, NMP accredited tour operators are allowed to bring a maximum of 200 participants per time slot, limited to four (4) time slots, for a total of 800 pax per single day transaction.

The NMP reserves the right to impose sanctions on concerned parties or refuse admission to groups habitually violating any of the provisions provided herein.

Types of Violations:

No Show – Failure to arrive on the scheduled day
Overbooking – Actual number of pax exceeds the reserved booking
Document compliance violation
- Failure to present printed Booking Confirmation Receipt (Digital copies are NOT allowed)
- Failure to present printed List of visitors' names (Digital copies are NOT allowed)
Misrepresentation and dishonesty

Sanctions:

Second Offense	One (1) month suspension of visit/booking privileges One (1) month suspension of accreditation privileges (for NMP accredited tour operators)
Third Offense	Cancellation of visit/booking privileges. Reinstatement of said privileges may be permitted one (1) year thereafter Cancellation of accreditation privileges. Reinstatement of said privileges may be permitted one (1) year thereafter (for NMP accredited tour operators)

3. Museum Sunday Joiners' Tour

The Museum Sunday Joiners' Tour is a comprehensive tour scheduled every Sunday at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM, allotted for walk-in visitors on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is available until 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM, respectively.

III. Booking Request from Independent/Non-NMP Guides

Only designated museum guides of the NMP are allowed to conduct guided tours of the NMP galleries. Independent/Non-NMP guides who wish to conduct their business at the NMP Central Complex must first secure permission from CMVOD by submitting the following requirements via email at reservation@nationalmuseum.gov.ph at least five (5) working days prior to the conduct of the requested museum guided tour:

Request letter addressed to the Chief Administrative Officer of CMVOD
Copy of tour script for fact checking
Proof of accreditation from the Department of Tourism (DOT) or Institutional Affiliation
Complete list of visitors

Only a maximum of 35 pax per guide and one (1) slot per building will be permitted to ensure that the Independent/Non-NMP guide can effectively manage the group during the tour. A Guide Permit Form (NMP-CMV-F-07) will be issued once the request has been approved, valid exclusively for the scheduled date and time.

Strictly "NO PERMIT, NO CONDUCT OF GUIDED TOUR POLICY" will be implemented. The guided tour will be observed and monitored by NMP frontline staff.

Additional Information:

Please read and follow the Museum Visitor Guidelines at all times.

Parking spaces are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. However, no bus parking is available onsite. Buses may use designated pick-up and drop-off areas for visitor's convenience.

Upon entry to the building, the group representative is required to present their valid identification card for verification.

All visitors and items are subject to security inspection. Baggage counters are available upon entry.

Infant bags and strollers are permitted. A breastfeeding room is accessible upon request, and availability.

Senior Citizens and PWDs may rest in the holding area while companions are in line at the Registration. Wheelchairs may be requested, free of charge, subject to availability. However, please note that due to space and design limitations, wheelchairs are restricted in some galleries.

Seating areas are available in lobbies, hallways and in some galleries.

Comfort rooms and emergency exits are accessible at all times.

Clinics are accessible in each museum building. Nurses are on duty for medical emergencies.

Lost and found items may be filed at the Public Assistance Desk and will be endorsed to the Security Office. Unclaimed items will be subject to disposal after thirty (30) days.

Food stalls are available in NMFA canteen. There are also nearby restaurants along Taft Avenue, Kalaw Avenue and Orosa Street.

The NMP reserves the right to refuse admission of persons and items that may threaten the security of the visitors, staff, and collections.

Visitor Guidelines

Please read and follow these rules during your visit.

I Who May Visit

Open to the general public. Admission is FREE.

Walk-in visitors are welcome. However, groups of 20 persons and above are required to make an advance booking through the official website of the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP), online booking form (Book A Tour tab). Upon entry to the building, visitors or their group representative must present their valid identification card for registration.

II Preparing for Your Visit

For groups of 20 persons and above, make an advance booking at the official website of the National Museum of the Philippines (NMP), online booking form (Book A Tour tab), at least three (3) working days prior to the day of the planned visit. Booking confirmation receipt shall be presented upon arrival. Same-day bookings will not be entertained.

Guided tours are available subject to approval and availability of museum guides. Letter of request shall be sent to reservation@nationalmuseum.gov.ph.

III General Guidelines

SECURITY INSPECTION. You will be greeted upon entry by one of our security personnel who will conduct a security inspection. We encourage viewers to limit their personal belongings for their comfort and speed through security check.

BAGGAGE DEPOSIT. Baggage counters are available upon entry. Prohibited items must be deposited at the counters except for those items strictly not allowed inside the museum premises (category A of prohibited items).

DRESS CODE. Guests are encouraged to dress appropriately and keep in mind the sensitivities other visitors may have.

PHOTOGRAPHY. Taking of pictures is allowed inside the museum premises. However, the use of camera flash is strictly prohibited. Commercial photography, photo shoots, and media coverage require prior approval.

PETS. To maintain optimal environmental conditions for the protection of the exhibits and ensure a comfortable experience for all visitors, pets or any live animals are prohibited inside the museum premises.

IV Prohibitions, Decorum, and Enforcement

PROHIBITED ITEMS A. The following items are NOT allowed inside the museum premises and NOT allowed for baggage check-in:

Firearms, explosives, poisonous/flammable items and other deadly weapons
Wrapped packages or gifts

PROHIBITED ITEMS B. The following items are NOT permitted inside the museum buildings and galleries and are subject to baggage check-in:

Big bags, luggage and other bulky items larger than 33 x 43 cm (13 x 17 in)
Mobile/electronic luggage
Backpacks bigger than 27.94 x 22 cm (11 x 9 in)
- Infant carrier may be carried in front of the body
Food and beverage
Disposable water bottles
Umbrellas
Cinema cameras, selfie sticks, and tripods
Art materials and toys
Plant, flowers, and organic materials

PROHIBITED CONDUCT

Touching of exhibition items such as paintings, sculptures, artifacts, specimens and other objects on display.
Destroying, damaging, vandalizing, or unauthorized removal of any museum property.
Opening of windows and window shades.
Leaning on paintings, glass showcases and pedestals, and stepping on the exhibition platforms.
Placing any items such as cellphones, cameras, and bags on the exhibition items and pedestals.
Carrying firearms, sharp objects, explosives and other dangerous or deadly weapons. Firearms prohibition excludes active law enforcement personnel authorized to carry firearms.
Displaying or carrying placards, signs, or banners.
Loitering, sleeping, or participating in unwarranted assemblies.
Performing obscene or indecent acts.
Engaging in disorderly conduct.
Shouting and using loud, abusive, or otherwise improper language.
Running, playing in hallways and sitting or lying on floors.
Using, possessing, or selling illegal drugs.
Smoking, vaping, or using any smoking devices.
Making bomb jokes, as prohibited under PD 1727.

DECORUM

Observe proper decorum at all times.
Properly dispose of any chewed candies or bubble gum before entering the museum premises.
Avoid physical activity that may harm the collections.
Staircases must be free from any obstruction at all times.
Please keep noise levels to a minimum when inside the galleries.

ENFORCEMENT AND DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS

The NMP reserves the right to refuse entry or remove from the premises visitors found to have violated the visitor guidelines or other policies of the NMP.
Visitors who violate these rules may be subject to fines, imprisonment, or both.

DAMAGE TO COLLECTION

• Theft or Intentional damage to Collection is subject to fines, imprisonment, or both.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 10951, August 29, 2017

SEC. 87. Article 328 - Special cases of malicious mischief:

"Any person who shall cause damage to obstruct the performance of public functions, or using any poisonous or corrosive substance; or spreading any infection or contagion among cattle; or who causes damage to the property of the National Museum or National Library, or to any archive or registry, waterworks, road, promenade, or any other thing used in common by the public, shall be punished:"

1. By prision correccional in its minimum and medium periods, if the value of the damage caused exceeds Two hundred thousand pesos (₱200,000);
2. By arresto mayor, if such value does not exceed the abovementioned amount but is over Forty thousand pesos (₱40,000); and
3. By arresto menor, if such value does not exceed Forty thousand pesos (₱40,000)

• Accidental damage to Collection may be subject to fines, imprisonment, or both.

○ Offenders will be endorsed to the security section for proper handling and documentation.
○ The amount of the damaged collection will be assessed by the responsible research division and will recommend the course of action.

ENGAGING IN PROHIBITED CONDUCT (Criminal Prohibitions)

• The offender may be subject to fines, imprisonment, or both.

○ Offenders will be endorsed to the security section for proper handling and documentation.
○ Security section may endorse the offender to the nearest police station.
○ Examples of Criminal Prohibitions, include but are not limited to:
- ▪ Violation of RA 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act
- ▪ Violation of RA 10951, Article 155, Alarms and Scandals

ENGAGING IN PROHIBITED CONDUCT

• The offender will be asked to leave the museum premises.

BRINGING OF PROHIBITED ITEMS

• The offender will be asked to leave the museum premises.
